A New Caney man surrendered to police on Wednesday, after more than three weeks after authorities said he ran over his estranged girlfriend outside of a bar in the Humble area.

Gerald Green, 38, was wanted for murder in the death of Alice Jeanette Lee, 41, officials said.

Investigators said Green and Lee had been arguing on July 3 in the parking lot of a bar in the 2800 block of East Richey Road. At the time, Green was sitting in the driver’s side of his Dodge pickup truck and Lee was leaning in the window.
At some point during the argument, Green allegedly grabbed Lee and drove off. He let go while the truck was moving and drove over her body, authorities said.
Lee was dropped off at a local hospital with severe head and chest injuries that were consistent with a motor vehicle accident. She was taken by LifeFlight to the Texas Medical Center.

On July 13, Lee died from her injuries. Harris County sheriff’s detectives questioned Lee’s friends and family. The interviews led them to the nightclub where the incident occurred. They recovered evidence at the scene and interviewed a witness who led them to identifying Green as the prime suspect.
Investigators said Green is currently in the Montgomery County Jail and will eventually be taken to Harris County.

Information about a possible bond was unknown.
